Kingdom Hearts 2 Finding Yuna Again

This article is virtually the group. You may exist looking for the Keyblade or the Arrowgun.

The Gullwings are a group of treasure-hunting fairies made up of Yuna, Rikku, and Paine. They have minor roles in Kingdom Hearts 2. The name refers to the sphere-hunting grouping that the 3 girls are a part of in Last Fantasy 10-two.

Despite Yuna and Rikku actually making their first appearances in Final Fantasy X alongside Tidus, Wakka, and Auron, the journal lists their kickoff advent as Concluding Fantasy X-2. This may be because the Gullwing group first appeared in X-2. The bandage part of the end credits groups their names with Auron, since both Final Fantasy X and Terminal Fantasy Ten-ii occur in the same continuity.

Of the trio, Paine is the most recent Concluding Fantasy grapheme to appear in Kingdom Hearts.

Personality

While the Gullwings' physical appearances have changed, their personalities have not: Yuna is unfailingly kindhearted and polite, even bowing in respect to Sora, Donald, and Goofy and apologizing to them for bothering them; Rikku is skillful-natured and ditzy, the latter of which shows when she nearly reveals to Sora and friends who they were working for; and Paine is emotionally distant and anti-social.

Nevertheless, it would seem that they are more like mercenaries in this game, working for Maleficent in exchange for treasure, and agreeing to work for Leon only if he pays them to practise so; when confronting Sora, Donald, and Goofy, Rikku complains near Leon non having any treasure and Paine says, "And we fought for you guys", almost equally if it was a crime to assist someone out without receiving payment.

Nonetheless, they do seem to have a strong moral compass, as they make up one's mind to allow Sora and co. off without consequence upon hearing of his fight with Arrangement Thirteen and search for his missing friends, as they believe that punishing them for doing the correct thing is just non right.

Concrete Appearance

Truthful to Last Fantasy Ten-2, the trio sport their trademark pose, though without their weapons.

Some other change to the trio is their less revealing attire as opposed to their outfits in the original game, which showed more pare. Yuna originally had hot pants and her top was more revealing and the symbol on it—a tribute to Tidus—was larger, likely because the symbol held together the shirt from a large V-necked gap, and the gap was sized down, and the symbol with it. Rikku wore a bikini top and had no stockings, and although it is changed to a tank top with visible shoulder straps in Kingdom Hearts II, her midriff and navel are still clearly exposed. Paine now wears a tank acme with visible shoulder straps and her boots no longer have loftier-heels. Modest changes to her stockings and shawl were made as well. Also, the three fairies each have wings that are unique to them. Yuna has a hair prune resembling bird wings, Rikku's wings are the long, loose ends of her scarf, and Paine has black, bat-similar wings.

In add-on, Yuna is represented by the colour pink while Paine is represented past the colour violet in Final Fantasy 10-ii. But in Kingdom Hearts II, Yuna is represented past blue and Paine is represented by red. Rikku is represented by a golden yellowish in both games. The color that they are associated with in Final Fantasy X-two is seen in the offset cutscene of Final Fantasy X-2, their bathing suits and, if one looks closely, their names in the master menu. In Kingdom Hearts II, their color is seen in the flashes of light that appear as they teleport in and out of scene.

Every bit another annotation, none of the girl's names are mentioned, also Yuna'south name, or nickname, every bit Rikku whispered information technology to her when they confronted Sora, Donald, and Goofy. Before they are about to trick them, they said in the English dialogue exterior of non-subtitled whispering between the trio, mayhap to preclude confusing Rikku with Riku. Paine also mentions Rikku's proper noun in a text box if the player talks to her before talking to Yuna after the battle.

Story

Kingdom Hearts II

Sora, Donald, and Goofy starting time run into the Gullwings in their third visit to Hollow Bastion, where the Gullwings enquire nearly the recent activities of Leon's group. Sora tells them that they have business at the castle. Rikku nearly reveals that they are working for Maleficent, merely Paine quickly stops her from doing so. She assures Sora that they come in peace (Yuna asks her if she's kidding, equally their mission is essentially to help create war, and Paine replies, "Okay, fine. You practice the talking".) and so teleports abroad. Yuna and Rikku follow, simply non before Yuna apologizes to Sora and visitor for bothering them.

They reappear during the Boxing of the chiliad Heartless, soon after Sora, Donald, and Goofy defeat a massive amount of both Heartless and Nobodies, and inquire what happened to Maleficent. Sora informs them that Maleficent ran away, and they call her lame, revealing that they had indeed been working for her and noting that they picked the wrong side.

Sora asks them to aid out the Restoration Committee; Yuna accepts and asks if Leon has whatever treasure. Donald, knowing that the Committee needs all the help it can go, lies and says that he does (proving it by chuckling to himself after they go out). Sora asks who they are, merely Yuna tells him that they are nothing worth mentioning, just "three treasure fanatics", and teleports away.

During the war, Paine lures an Armored Knight Heartless into a trap, and Yuna and Rikku double-team it and knock it off the edge with two simultaneous jump-kicks. Soon afterward, a massive legion of Armored Knights chases them off.

The Gullwings escape, even so, and discover that they had been tricked, confronting Sora and friends afterward the war. After a brief give-and-take with each other on how to work it out, they make up one's mind to accept their treasure in retribution; when Sora declares that they accept nothing, Rikku searches them, and Yuna declares that they are taking all of their items. However, Sora downright refuses, much to their frustration.

Sora begins to apologize for the deception, only Paine stops him and reveals that Leon had informed them of their fight against Arrangement Xiii and their search for their friends, and how rough their journeying had been. They decide that it wouldn't be correct to take their items after all that they had been through and assure him that they will root for them. They requite Sora the Gull Fly Keyblade equally a sign of forgiveness and and so depart afterward performing their trademark pose.

They are last seen during the terminate credits, stealing a stick of sea-salt ice foam from Yuffie and provoking her into chasing them.

Abilities

It takes a combined effort of all three to defeat i Armored Knight. Considering their size and the reliance on hand-to-manus they displayed in Kingdom Hearts II, they are portrayed equally weaker than their original selves. They accept just demonstrated the abilities to teleport and to conjure upwardly objects, as they did when they gave Sora the Gull Wing Keyblade.

Design

Artwork of Rikku as she would have appeared in Kingdom Hearts.

In Kingdom Hearts II, the Gullwings receive a new appearance, seeming to exist small-scale pixies. The reason for making the Gullwings "pixie-like" beings was considering Tetsuya Nomura wanted to take Final Fantasy characters announced in a non-human form that nevertheless appeared human, and the Kingdom Hearts series seemed to be the ideal scenario to do and then. He chose their fairy forms, every bit he believed that they would await interesting and because he believed that the screen would be too crowded if the camera focused on all three of them at once if they were in their normal man forms.

Interestingly, Rikku was supposed to make a solo appearance in the original Kingdom Hearts every bit a member of Leon's group in Traverse Town; however, because of the similarly-named character Riku, she was replaced with Yuffie, who was then given a version of the outfit planned for Rikku. Yuffie'due south version has the same design, merely the colors are swapped.
